On stage
La petite histoire de monsieur N
This show traces the journey of the musician, singer, director Simon Nwambeben, between Africa and the world. (Cameroon, France, China, Hungary, Vietnam Chile... etc) according to his musical encounters.
Each song in this show opens a window on a particular slice of life. Simon has always taken a close look at the world around him, whether tender or cruel, welcoming or restive.
Simon's repertoire and music, which he calls Bitibak, tells us about his Cameroon, his hometown Bafia but also about his journey as an exiled African and especially about the encounters that have forged his unique artistic and musical identity.
Accompanied by Eva Paquereau on backing vocals, and Erwan Martinerie on cello, through simon's repertoire of songs that they have built together, they will tell you in one voice the many facets and musical recipes of Simon, their encounters and their rich years of companionship on the roads of France and elsewhere.
The show will be embellished with archival sounds, soundscapes that sometimes say better than words the joy of the children of Bafia, his hometown, or the crazy percussions that punctuated his childhood and his regular returns "to the country". It will also be nourished by dance, an essential pillar of the Bafia culture.
If "the little story of Mr. N." tells us about a singular journey of incredible richness, it also tells us about exile, migrations, bridges between Africa and the world, cultural mixing, mixing, artistic mixing and the great bazaar motley with musical sounds from here and there. The loneliness and strength of the collective, uprooting and adoption, are founding elements of most of the stories of African musicians who come to share their art in France and elsewhere.
Inspired by a life punctuated by music and songs, very early Simon Nwambeben wrote his first songs so one at the age of 9 who since that time has never left his repertoire!! This song became a friend, a privileged witness of her career. Simon never betrayed her... It is and will be the common thread of this show, so that childhood is not far from it.
This show will be designed to be played in two versions: a show version, on stage, and a lighter concert version, which can adapt to small venues.
